2015 Nepal blockade, which began on 23 September 2015
As a landlocked nation, Nepal imports all of its petroleum supplies from India. Roughly 300 fuel trucks enter from India on a normal day, but this has dwindled to a sporadic passage of 5-10 fuel trucks daily, choked imports on medicines and earthquake relief material….is an economic and humanitarian crisis which has severely affected Nepal and its economy. Nepal border blockade ‘threatens the future of the country itself’, says UN

With the onset of winter, Bharati and his family are struggling to sleep at night because of the cold. The fuel shortages have made things worse. “The current crisis has added more pain,” he said. “We are not getting cooking oil, kerosene oil and the price of food has gone sky high … Nothing has changed since the earthquake. The level of pain and difficulty is just getting worse.”

OUR IMMEDIATE GOAL
We have accomplished our short term goal in July/July of 2015. Our member Aruna personally flew to Nepal with her son on June 11th with the donated funds and relief supplies packed in 6 suitcases and personally travelled to Kathmandu and Dhading. Through her grass roots organization contacts in Kathmandu she was able assess and then provide immediate support and impact almost 650 children with the team. They helped directly hand funds to and/buy school supplies and distribute relief supplies for the people who needed them the most. Please read Aruna’s personal “Blog” pages with photos, video’s and journals to learn more and get indepth details of her relief trip. We made sure that much needed funds and relief got into the hands of the people who are in dire need. We will do our best to continue to provide support during the rebuilding period.
OUR LONG TERM GOAL:
From our June, 2015 relief mission, we have assessed and discovered which one of the many grass root organizations helping the people that ArunasNepaRelief can best aid and assist from the United States. We will start by focusing on just one organization that is currently involved directly in meeting the needs of the people. We will have proposals from that organization on which part of Nepal they are involved in, how they are helping and what the most important areas of relief work are. This will help us assist them from here through our corporation and/or Travel to Nepal again and get involved in directly assisting the people who in dire need of relief. Any donation, no matter how small, will help!
We need your help! Please click on the “Donor” link at the top of the page to help support our relief efforts for Nepal. Again, all donations are tax deductible and will go directly to the Nepali people. For more information please read the blog which is listed above.
WHY?
Because we care! Nepali people are very kind, hospitable, generous, brave, hardworking souls. Nepal’s astounding beauty has provided so much to the world of mountain climbers, trekkers, kayakers, and tourists. Her wonderful people will need a lot of support not just today, but well into the future. In order for the people to rebuild and heal the wounds of loss of family, friends, and homes, and now the unthinkable India blockade crisis that has left Nepal with a fuel shortage and daily necessities supply crisis, the Nepali people need our help.
WHO WE ARE?
ArunasNepalRelief, Inc. is a Texas Non Profit Corporation born from a very small and simple idea to immediately help the earthquake victims right after the devastating news on April 25th, 2015. We carefully chose board members who shared our vision to help Nepal and her people, not only immediately but in the long term as well. We chose to become a Non Profit Corporation in order to provide accountability to our donors, and all donations are taxable deductible.
Thank you!
