No exaggeration! Falling in love with Nepal is very easy to do. Going back as often as one would like, not so easy!
After my trip, there is no fear, I want to go back again. I encourage you to visit beautiful Nepal as there are so many breathtaking places to visit that are 100% intact.
Despite the current circumstances, the major tragedy of the earthquakes, and still the continuing tremors to this very day, Nepali people stand strong and their resilience is out of this world! People going about their lives, smiling and laughing, continuing to live with hope and yet there is one hidden fact you will not see right away. They have all endured and they continue to do so, there is hidden trauma. From the outside you see the people that have survived, they look good, they dress well, their homes look intact, they are out and about but don’t be fooled the trauma is within, it will stay for a long time, an inner sense of fear, especially the children. They teach you about strength and how to live and enjoy every moment despite circumstances you cannot control. You fall in love with the people and you fall in love with beautiful Nepal all over again, each time you go! Very humbled, very fortunate and very grateful to have made this trip. Zero regrets!
July 5th, 2015 – Hike to Shivapuri (Deurali Dadha is where we reached)
My friends from Luther college who live in Nepal are kind enough to take some time out of their busy work week and they arrange a reunion trek/hike to Shivapuri. I am ecstatic!
We will never forget! We will be back soon!
